In this project, several interns teamed up to build a support utility for a large-scale application being developed by Galatea for one of our Wall Street clients. The utility was designed and built to safely and automatically cycle the application during a code release. The resulting utility saved both Galatea and our client a significant amount of time and manual effort during critical and highly sensitive code releases.

Technology is constantly changing and improving at exponentially faster rates. With this rapid movement, our clients are continually working to upgrade their existing systems to incorporate more advanced technology. This project involved migrating a legacy mainframe system to a newly developed distributed Java architecture. The intern assigned to this project ramped up very quickly and became a fully fledged member of the development team in no time! During her time at Galatea, she took ownership over many different tasks, one of which included the creation of retention policies and programs which automated the purging of old data. She was involved in every step of the software development lifecycle, including gathering requirements, designing, building, and testing her solution.

As you can imagine, confidentiality is of utmost importance when working for large Wall Street banks and so the development of a secure entitlements system to control bank employees' access to the information necessary to perform their job is a top priority. This intern was tasked with developing an automated statistics generating process which queried the timing and usage data for the entitlements system, allowing the team to develop a more robust application. Once this project was completed, the intern went on to generalize the application’s UI so that it could be used not just for access to the entitlements system, but also to manipulate the entitlements stored.
Technologies: Python, AngularJS

With millions of trades occurring across the globe every second, it is very important for our clients to be able to accurately track where in the trade life-cycle any given transaction may be. This project team spearheaded efforts to do just that. Their system ensured buy side client instructions were matched against their broker confirmations and fed the resulting trades into settlement systems across banking networks. As part of this flow, the system tracked FX and securities settlement at custodians in order to feed downstream accounting and position keeping systems. The intern assigned to this project worked on improving core transformation logic and extending accounting messaging to incorporate newly available data, which involved direct communication with our client's business analysts and tech teams.
